OVERVIEW:

Life is tough in Myanmar (Burma) and tougher if you are an orphan or born into a slum! By offering day care and a good meal, our Partners in Myanmar are able to educate, care for and demonstrate Gods love for these children. This is the second learning centre to be opened by our partner organisation in Myanmar.

WHAT WE LIKE ABOUT IT:

Orphaned whilst very young, founder & Director, T.H. has a heart to help these children with no future. Children take home the lessons they learn and tell their parents why they must pray. After the recent cyclone Nargis, Entrust was able to get funds to T.H. who was able to offer direct assistance to the families of their children.

Approximately 40 children from a local (slum) community will be looked after each day, taught, fed and loved in this centre. Children will be taught language and health education and know they are loved.

BUDGET

Funds will be used to purchase a building to set up a second Day Care Centre for children from a nearby slum. Included is the cost of painting and repairs, set up costs for the learning centre and running costs for the first year of operation.

1. THE NEED FOR THE EDUCATION CENTRES

Children are raised in a hopeless cycle of poverty and are therefore at high risk of abuse, trafficking or prostitution. This organisation gives these children and their extended families the opportunity to break free from the destructive cycle of poverty. With an education and a safe place during the day, they have an opportunity to work and so care for their families.

2. HOW DOES THE CENTRE ACHIEVE THIS?

• 40 Children will be given a basic education which will enable them to attend a public school.
• They will be looked after physically and fed each day
• They will learn how to take care of themselves and their families as they are taught about personal health & hygiene.
• They will have the opportunity to receive a holistic education that will empower them for life.

3. IMPACT

The impact of these learning centres will be for a lifetime as children are provided with a safe place during the day while other family members are working. With a solid value based education where basic needs are being met in a loving environment, children will be empowered through the teaching of basic literacy and health care.
